Yep – that is so my life! Sigh, despite my best efforts for it not to be so. Anyway, a lovely, very wet, very quiet day today means a chance to get a blog post done, so here’s a quick catch up post.
March has been all about work, work, work for Matt and I. A very busy few weeks of Blue Sky Produce avocado season have meant Matt has been up at five am every day and not home before 8pm most nights.
We do LOVE all the yummy avocados to eat at this time of year though and we have been really happy with the quality of the Blue Sky fruit this year. We are loving our new avocado boxes too! Our Shepard avocado season is finished and we are now about half way through our Hass/Carmen season. We are having a little break now until after Easter while we wait for the rest of the fruit to size up.
We have had a crew of about fifteen workers living on farm too for the last few months, which keeps life interesting but sure does make living at Blue Sky like high density living with people around and coming and going in cars all the time! Looking forward to having the farm back to ourselves in a few months time to enjoy the peace and quiet again! Last weekend we had a farewell bbq as six of our workers that had been with us since November last year, were heading off. That meant I spent all of Sunday in the kitchen cooking for thirty of us for dinner – phew – it was hard work – I think pizzas next year might be the go!
My energy this month has all been directed towards the Commonwealth Games Queens Baton Relay coming to the Tablelands which was my gig to organise at work. It was really fun on the day – and quite exciting to see the baton travel about the Tablelands, but a lot of work getting everybody involved. We had a fantastic community event in Atherton on the night before the baton relay and I was so thrilled with the number of people who came along. Always nice to see a big event go off pretty well! Thanks to my friend Anne and her family who came over from Mareeba to be my ‘rent a crowd’ just in case we needed to bump up the numbers – made my night to see their friendly faces in amongst the busyness of the event – xoxoxox.
We have had heaps of rain up here in Mareeba recently which is very unusual, but oh so welcome! The kids even got sent home from school one Friday due to a bridge flooding in town – crazyness! The lovely wet weather has meant some fun on the farm though, with tractors getting bogged, the pump shed flooding and some ‘Blue Sky Bogey Boarding’ happening on Dad’s daycare afternoon! Oh, and everything is such an unusual GREEN colour here!
Last weekend we had my Aunty Jan visit from New Zealand so of course we put her to work in the packing shed! Then we headed to Malanda to have a fun dinner out at the Malanda Pub for St Patricks Day and to watch the terrific band ‘The Bad Boys of Uke’ play. Lots of fun except that we were all a bit too tired to really enjoy it!
And that’s a bit it for the Fealy Family over the last few weeks! A couple of nice pics to finish the post out.
Hope you guys are all well – what’s been happening in your world’s? Anything exciting?
Lots of Love
The Fealy Family xoxoxxo
