Another month down already – time sure does fly by these days! Time for a February ‘Taking Stock’ Post. I am going to do these posts at the end of every month this year, just out of interest to see a nice summary of the year and to help me settle in to my blogging flow again! These posts are a bit cheaty I think and get a bit long – do you guys even make it to the end? I’m not sure if I will have time to answer all of the sections today, but I’ll give it a crack. You are welcome to join in too, love seeing what everybody else has going on in their worlds. I’ve pasted a blank list at the end of the post, you can share your answers in the comments, via email or social media or just in your own private notebook or journal.
Here we go – Taking Stock February 2018
Making :
Bacon and Egg pie for tea last night. It is soooo easy and very yummy and even better cold for lunch the next day. I think I will post the recipe for you one day soon!
Cooking :
White Wings Triple Choc Muffins and Greens Butter Cake for afternoon tea/lunch boxes. I feel slightly guilty about the packet mix thing, but they are so cheap when on special and soooo easy to make – I was never in the running for mum of the year anyway – ha!
Drinking :
Oh dear. Confession time. A ‘V’. My no ‘V’s goal is not going well. Let’s just not talk about it right now ok?
Reading:
Just finished The Mother’s Promise by Sally Hepworth. It was ok – good escapism read but pretty predictable. Kept me up reading waaaay too late on Saturday night, but I think I was ‘avoidance reading’ – it seems I read most when trying to procrastinate on the other things I should be doing.
Oh and by the way, I’ve just discovered reserving books online via the library. So awesome to reserve a few from my ‘want to read’ list instead of just wandering the library hoping to nab something good and gives you almost an online shopping buzz without leaving home or spending any money – WINNER yay!
Next read:
A few on the list for March – didn’t get much reading done in February.
Sagaland by Richard Fidler and Kari Gislason
The Girls by Emma Cline
Daring Greatly by Brene Brown
Wanting:
To win gold lotto – I think I say that every time I do this post!
Looking:
At places to stay in Bali. I am going to join Matt over there at the end of his Nuffield travels later in the year. I think we have decided on this one.
Playing:
SongPop Party. If you have an Apple TV device you so have to get this FREE game – so much fun for the whole family!
Deciding:
What to do with our house in Samford? Sell it or keep it? It is going to need a lot of work done very soon.
Wishing:
It was easy to lose weight and I didn’t like food so much!
Enjoying:
The writers retreat I went to in Atherton last weekend. The workshops were run by Kari Gislason and they were fantastic. A good mix of theory on how to write a memoir and some practical actual writing too! I am going to write a book in my lifetime! Also – the views from the Summit Rainforest Retreat (do click on the link and check it out – it is a fantastic accommodation option on the Tablelands) where we stayed for the weekend were pretty awesome too – nothing like a double rainbow to get you in the creative spirit!
For the Farmer Meets Foodie to come and collect a few of our ducklings that we have managed to keep alive this time round. Very cute but we have too many so decided to give some away.
Liking:
That I have decided we are going to spend a month exploring New Zealand for my 40th Birthday! Still a couple of years off yet, but good to have locked it in as a long term goal so we can start planning and saving and hopefully the extended family will join us too. I want family, freezing cold, with a fireplace to celebrate 40 years and kick off the next 40! Ideas on where to go and what to see would be greatly appreciated.
Wondering:
If it really is ok that I have set Toby up with his own YouTube channel? He is 10 turning 11 but one of his goals this year was to create his own YouTube channel. I love that he is keen to create and not just watch a billion YouTube movies, but still I’m worried about the implications of social media/being online and all that?? He’d love it if you subscribed and checked out his videos – huh! I may close it all down by next week – so better be quick!
Seeing all of our avocados pop up in shops in the big wide world and that people are taking the time to take a pic and send it through to us – love the power of connection via social media!
Pondering:
This article that my lovely sis in law, Liz sent through to me about how to change habits. Have a read – I think it is a helpful way to think.
Considering:
Where we should go camping for the May Day long weekend – thinking maybe Karma Waters?
Buying:
As soon as I finish this blog post I am going to order a Doterra Oil Diffuser which I have been wanting to get since my friend Shelley started selling their stuff last year. I like the idea of having something nice smelling and good for our health going in the house.
Watching:
Matt and I started watching Vikings over the weekend. Not grabbing us just yet but I am keen to persist. Love netflix!
Next watch:
The kids and I are hanging out for the movie Wonder to be available for rent from the Itunes store from Feb 28 – we all read the book and loved it – highly recommend!
Hoping:
We can do something fun for Easter – maybe a bonfire again?
Marvelling:
At the beautiful wrapping on the Valentines Day gift Matt bought me – so spoilt! He must have got the hint with my Valentines Day post hehehehe!
Cringing:
At myself in photos – gah!
Needing:
To get exercising and eating right. Think I wrote that last time I did this post too.
Questioning:
If I need to do a family photo book each year or not. Thinking I might give the Facebook photo book app a go – anybody had one printed from there before?
Smelling:
Mud and chook poo from chasing the ducklings around the chook pen!
Wearing:
My ‘hippy’ pants from Boom Shankar which I love! And eyeing off this pair online! Super comfortable for Mareeba hot summer weather!
Following:
The Kairi Boys Facebook Page – make sure you go and check it out! A bunch of local farmers undertaking the QLD Variety Bash this year and raising money for disadvantaged kids – can guarantee this will be a top journey to follow!
Worrying:
About the Commonwealth Games Queens Baton Relay event I am helping to organise for work. Lots to get organised still!
Noticing:
That the airconditioner is dripping on me!
Knowing:
I’ve got to publish this and run to get kids from school – I am going to be late!
Thinking:
Why am I always rushing? Everything I do is rush, rush, rush! Sick of it, grrr!
Admiring:
This awesome cafe in Dimbulah (tiny country town about 40 minutes west of us) that now has a Michelin Star chef who cooked for Prince William running it – so cool and want a date night out with Matt there soon!
Sorting:
The kids wooden train set, matchbox cars and wooden blocks over the weekend. Jack and Kipp built an epic ‘train city’ on Sunday morning. Love seeing them play ‘old school’ – amazing what happens when I say ‘no tech time until after lunch’!
Getting:
Very cranky at myself for not being able to kick my ‘V’ habit!
Bookmarking:
This Facebook Post that my friend Anne sent me which is ‘Facetime A Farmer’ – I love the idea and am wondering if this is something Matt and I could do?
Coveting:
A kindle but I do love actual books – so would I really use it?
Disliking:
The heat, always hot and sweaty!
Opening:
Mail that I collected from our PO Box this morning. Mostly just bills – nothing exciting.
Giggling:
So me!
Feeling:
A bit off colour as I have a cold. Sore throat, runny eyes – just enough to be annoying/tiring – not enough to warrant a day in bed.
Snacking:
Avocado and tomato on toast – I could eat it all day, every day – love avocado season.
The wind outside (hope it doesn’t blow our avocados off!) and the airconditioner humming above me at our dining table.
Have a great week everyone – bring on March!
Love the Fealy Family xoxoxo

I love your 40th plans, that’s what I’m planning too, except mine is next year! Where did that time go?!
