There is so much to catch up on here on the blog, I really don’t know where to start! I should do a quick update post for you all, but I just don’t ‘feel like’ doing that, so I’m going to do a little reminiscing about how fast 12 months has flown by in the life of our Baby No 4, Master Kipp! Kipp turned one at the end of April and a few weeks ago he starting walking, so ‘officially’ that is the baby years over for the Fealy Family! I feel sad and glad about that! I love babies, the tiny clothes, the breastfeeding, the snuggling, the first smiles, first giggles, watching the sitting up, crawling, learning to walk progression. These have been lots of fun for all of us with Kipp – the big brothers and sister have been so involved and loving of this little man! But, we are getting tired! Babies are hard work. Little sleep, little time for Matt and I on our own, and little time for me to get done what I want to/need to! It feels nice to know we are moving on a little now. Time for the next phase!
That doesn’t mean I can’t shed a tear over how fast this little bub has grown. You all read about Kipp’s birth here and we shared his newborn photo shoot here, but here’s a little photo diary of how he has changed in twelve months!
To start with, a couple of photos we didn’t share when he was born, but that I wanted to record here on the blog. First off – a pic of our room at the hospital here in Mareeba – it was awesome! Matt and I often joke that it was like having a mini holiday when Kipp was born! Kipp was the only bub of ours that Matt was able to stay over in hospital with me for and it was a little bit special being able to spend that night together – Mum, Dad and new bub! The rooms in the maternity ward in Mareeba are a little dated (I would love to do some fundraising to buy some new things for the ward!), but they were still cosy and oh so welcoming!
The other really lovely thing about Kipp’s birth was having all of our family close by and able to visit within a few hours of Kipp being born! Our other kids where all born in Brisbane, far away from family, so it was a few days at best before any of our family saw them after they were born. It was really special being able to see the Great Grandparents, Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles holding an only hours old Kipp!
I love this shot of our little Fealy Family on the day Kipp was born!
And then the months just flew by! As for all the baby milestones, well unfortunately in true Baby No 4 style, I didn’t write any of them down, but here’s what I can remember!
First Smile: Mum got the first smile while changing Kipp on the change table at about 4 weeks old!
First Giggle: The big brother’s and sister get to claim this one while making funny noises and waving things over Kipp’s head while he was lying on the floor when he was about 3 months old. They worked VERY hard for this – waiting for that first giggle from the time we bought him home from hospital!
First Sat Up: Um, um, um. Nope – can’t remember that one! Probably about 5 months old? He was in the Bumbo a lot!!!
First Crawl: New Year’s Day 2015 at Ma and Pa’s house – he was 8months old and determined to go with the siblings down the stairs!
First Steps: 13 months old – walking between Mum and Dad and the brothers and sister – he loved all the attention and the siblings were super, super proud of him!
First Haircut: 13 months old in Darwin and it was a nightmare! He screamed the shop down and the poor barber couldn’t wait to get rid of us! Thank goodness we were 1000 miles from home and nobody we knew witnessed the embarrassment!
Now for some photos;
And now for the cheeky 1 year old we have now, who thinks being in the house with mum is very boring and escapes every chance he gets to find Dad, or the tractor, or the motorbikes or the ride-on mower etc! Aaaaargh! I think these toddler years are going to be very hard work! Wish us luck – Kipp boy – you are going to send us grey but we love you and wouldn’t have you any other way! Please stop eating the cat and dog food though, that is really gross! xoxoxoxo
Oh, so cute!! What a great record in f Kipp’s first year!
You blink and it is gone!!
