Welcome to ‘Throwback Thursday’ on the Fealy Family blog everyone. This is the way that I am going to throw in a few catch up posts to the blog this year – a little bit sneaky and cheeky, and the posts will be a bit random, but there are a few bits and pieces I want to pull in to the blog and this is how I’m going to do it!
So, way back in November last year – Jack turned 9 and we celebrated with a pretty low key, but lovely, afternoon tea at home with a few of his mates from school and Poppy who drove up from Cairns to join in. It was all about cake, chips, sausage rolls and pizza scrolls, boys (and Lexi) running around everywhere, and water pistols. This was the first year that Jack said “I’ll just have a chocolate cake this time Mum – nothing like a character cake or anything – thanks”. Aaaargh – my boy is growing up! So, a chocolate cake is what he got with a few extra’s on top! We only took a few photos of the afternoon …………………
Jack has some really lovely friends who have very nice mums too, so we have been very lucky! We’re very proud of Jacko – he is a pretty serious, overthinking boy, but he always tries his best, is a great older brother and is pretty clever to boot! He wrote and presented a poem at school at the end of last year and I’m going to finish this post by sharing it here because we all think it is pretty awesome!
“The Oval” by Jack Fealy
I can see …………………
I can see stairs and people on chairs, and toads on roads.
I can see kids sneezing and wheezing, and cars and old Grandpas.
I can see fences using senses, and a tree next to me!
I can see dirt a-shifting and leaves a-lifting, and I’m sitting under my tree!
I can hear ………………………
I can hear beeping and birds a-cheeping, and the wind is going “whoosh!!”, and the teachers are going “shush!!”
I can hear leaves a-rustling and teachers and kids a-bustling.
I can hear sticks breaking and spine-tingiling raking!
I can feel …………………………..
I can feel the breeze, running through the trees.
I can feel the dew, under my wet shoe.
I can feel the dirt, where grass is starting to spurt.
THE END
9 going on 19 Jacko, we love you lots and lots, and boy we can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you!
What a great poem! Ican hear music being written for the words and a great Aussie tune hitting the airwaves!
What a wonderful poem, go Jacko! The Campbell’s all miss the Fealy’s.
