Last week Toby turned seven. He took some tiny teddy cars in to school to share with his classmates on his actual birthday and then on Sunday we celebrated with some family and a few of Toby’s choosen friends with a birthday party.
We weren’t as organised as we usually like to be with a big birthday party like this. Our house still hadn’t recovered from our two weeks away camping and Rodeo weekend, and having a new baby is taking its toll a little on the energy levels. But Tobes had been lookong forward to having a’big’ party all year so we bit the bullet and decided to have the party and hope it would come together! I’m glad we did because we did have a really nice afternoon on Sunday. We got to meet and get to know some of Toby’s friends parents a little more and Toby had an absolute ball being the centre of attention. We were so grateful of the help of our family in setting up and cleaning up and showing up to share the afternoon with us!
The only dampener on the afternoon was that it rained!! I know – rained in Mareeeba – what the???? On the one afternoon of the year that we plan a party! So then we had to move everybody from outside around to our back patio which was a mess!!! Nothing like showing off your messy house to new friends!!! Very embarrassing and I really wanted to throttle the rain!!! But everybody was so great about it – helping us move all the tables, chairs and food and staying to keep the party going, lovely people!
The day started out well with Matt working his magic once again on Toby’s ‘Bulldozer’ cake and I had lots of willing helpers to get the party food ready.
Oh, I nearly forgot the small matter of the cake falling apart about an hour before the party!!! Toby was in tears that his cake was ruined, but about 20 skewers and another tonne of icing later, Dad saved the day! Phew!!
We had a great time with a few old fashioned party games ………………… A big thank you to Uncle Jimbo who took all the birthday party shots for us – we were very grateful that someone got some photos!!
Lots of fun all round and it was worth the effort – it always is, making memories of us!!
Happy 7th Birthday Toby, T-Dog, Rusty Jnr, Fealy! You are the fun in this family. Always the caring and thoughtful one. You even used two of your birthday party invite spaces to invite two of Jack’s good friends to your party because ‘you didn’t want him to get bored’ – so typical of you!! You worry too much though and we always get a laugh from your most common question “is this a problem if ……………..???”. But we wouldn’t trade you for the world and we love you lots and lots. xoxoxoxoxo
Just a few more pics from the party to finish off with – a big thank you to everybody for Tobe’s pressies and making his day so great!
Good to see all the relatives there as well, grandma tucked into the food too by the looks of it. She does enjoy being with relatives, seems to be able to recall some of it when asked. the farm is an awesome place for kids to grow up on, they are going to have some amazing memories when they grow up.
I hope so Uncle John!!! Thanks for the comment xoxo
What a fabulous birthday! Happy Birthday, Toby! Heavens, Matt is such as whizz at so many surprising things … being Kipp’s voice as he was born, making birthday cakes!! I can’t wait for the next surprise!! And rain in Mareeba, well it had to happen sometime, just a pity on Toby’s birthday party day!
He is a bit of a keeper Judith!
Our biggy turned 7 recently too! That looks like a lovely day and I’m super impressed with Matts cake decorating skills. What a man!!
