Matt is having a weekend off, the first one in a a long while and we are making the most of it! Lazy days, dinner at Grandma’s, a sleepover for the kids at Grandma’s and a breakfast out this morning for Matt and I!
A few weeks ago, a new school mum friend introduced me to Coffee Works here in Mareeba and I couldn’t wait to go back with Matt to check it out a little more. We had breakfast there this morning and although I can’t rave about the food, Matt assures me the coffee was outstanding and the surprise of such a jam packed treasure trove of cafe, coffee world museum, gift shop and chocolaterie (sooooo much delicious chocolate!) more than make up for that! A great discovery to find such a professional, high quality little place exists in a small country town like Mareeba!
Matt and I didn’t do the tour through ‘Coffee World’ as we thought we would have to save up the pennies for the $19 adult admission and visit another time when we have out of town visitors. I had a little peak a few weeks ago and the museum looks amazing – over 2,000 coffee and tea related treasures. According to the website, Coffee World is the “WORLD’s largest and most significant collection of coffee and tea treasures, dating back as far as the early 1700’s”.
Definitely another visit worthy spot on the Tablelands and where we will now be buying our coffee from locally – you can order online too and get a sample pack sent with free freight!
HOT TIP: Make sure you pick up a Coffee Works brochure before your visit, to receive a $5 discount on every adult admission into Coffee World. Brochures are located at Information Centres, Accommodation Places, and Tourist Attractions in Cairns, Port Douglas and the Tablelands.
Oh – I’d love to tour coffee world when we’re up that way! 🙂
